The operator PT Whitesky Aviation announced on Tuesday its plan to launch the service, which will be packaged as a sightseeing tours to locations such as the Thousand Islands north of Jakarta, and Cirebon and Sukabumi in West Java. It will also serve as an exclusive mode of transportation for tourists who want to travel via air to surrounding areas.
PT Whitesky Aviation President Director Denon Prawiraatmadja told reporters that the service, which will cost Rp. 12 million (US$900) to Rp 14 million per trip for four to six passengers, will start on Dec. 4.
“As many as 173 helipads in Jakarta and 50 in Bandung are available for this new service,” Denon said, as quoted by The Jakarta Post.
He stated the company has invested around $66.5 million to purchase 30 helicopters for the Helicity service, which he claims has already garnered a lot of interest from potential customers.
“Since unveiling the information [about the new service], we have received at least 60 calls a month from people who were interested,” he said.
The service will also expand to Bali and Bintan in Riau Islands.
